Landscape with Satyrs is a 1639 by Herman van Swanevelt, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This print shows a wooded scene with two half-naked figures—one standing, one sitting—near a tree. The background has rolling hills and more trees, all drawn in fine, detailed lines. Shadows and light create depth, especially under the leaves and around the figures. The artist signed it at the bottom, calling himself the "inventor," which means he designed the scene. This was common for prints where someone else might carve the metal plate. Look up Baroque to see how this style used drama and movement in art.
Herman van Swanevelt (1603–1655) was a Dutch artist, born in Woerden.
