Coronation of the Virgin is a 1633 ink by Christoffel Jegher, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This image shows a dramatic scene in black and white. At the center, a robed figure with curly hair floats above clouds, holding a cross-topped staff. Below, another figure lies on a cloud, surrounded by swirling drapery and stars. A dove hovers above, and the whole scene feels busy and full of movement. The text at the bottom reads *"CVM PRIVILEGIIS"* and credits the artist as Christoffel Jegher. This print was made using a woodcut technique, where the artist carved the design into wood and then pressed ink into the grooves.
