London from Greenwich is a 1811 by Joseph Mallord William Turner, a Romanticism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This print shows a big building with two tall domes in the middle of a city. In front of it, a river is packed with ships. The land slopes down to the water, and sheep graze on the grass near the bottom. Trees line the path up to the building, and the sky looks hazy. The artist used soft lines to show how far everything stretches. The ships and domes make the city feel busy, but the sheep add a quiet touch. Next, check out Romanticism to see how artists used emotion in their landscapes.
Joseph Mallord William Turner was born in 1775 at Maiden Lane, Covent Garden, where his father kept a barber and wig-making shop.
