About this work

This sketch shows a horse rearing up on its hind legs. The rider leans forward, gripping the reins tightly with one hand while holding a whip in the other. The lines are loose and quick, with some shading on the horse’s body and legs. The drawing looks like it was made fast, almost like a quick study. The horse’s movement feels wild and full of energy.
