About this work

This print shows a tall, narrow gate made of stone blocks. The gate has pointed arches and a small window near the top. Behind it, you can see a row of buildings with steep roofs, drawn in fine, crisscrossed lines. The artist used a sharp tool to scratch into the metal plate, creating dark, textured lines that make the stone look rough. This method is called drypoint.
