This drawing shows two people near a stream with sheep and cows around them. The person standing holds a staff, while the other sits on the ground, leaning on a rock. Trees and hills fill the background, and the whole scene looks calm and quiet. The artist used a lot of tiny lines to build up the shadows and shapes—this is called cross-hatching. It gives the scene a textured, almost sketchy feel. Look up cross-hatching to see how artists use lines to create depth.
