Landscape study, with trees and figures in the foreground is a 1850 by Alfred East, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a loose, watery scene with a person walking under a big tree. The tree’s branches spread dark and tangled, while the person’s clothes are bright blue and white. The background is soft and blurry, with a faint glow near the horizon and some rocky shapes in the distance. The artist used quick, sketchy lines and light washes of color to keep it feeling fresh and unfinished. The person’s face is barely there—just a small red circle for a hat.
