Christ is a 1519 ink by Hans Baldung Grien, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This black-and-white print shows a bearded man with long hair, standing barefoot in a landscape. He holds a globe with a cross on it, and a small child clings to his left arm. The background is full of swirling clouds and rough trees, giving it a dramatic, almost stormy feel. The artist used sharp lines to show the folds in the man’s robe and the texture of the trees.
