The Flirt (Le flirt) is a 1886 ink by Paul-Albert Besnard, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows two figures leaning close by a window. The person on the left is bent slightly forward, their arm around the other. The person on the right is turned away, their head tilted back as if laughing or talking. Outside the window, a blank wall and a few birds are faintly drawn. The artist used quick, sketchy lines to show movement and emotion. The scene feels intimate but also a little mysterious. Next, look up etching to see how artists like this one create prints.
