About this work

This black-and-white drawing shows a woman holding a small child while another woman leans in toward them. The room has a rough, textured wall with a window letting in light. The woman holding the child looks tired but gentle, and the child reaches out toward the other woman. The artist used sharp lines to show fabric folds and faces, making everything look slightly sketchy but full of life. This style was common in etchings, where ink is pressed into a metal plate.
