Interieur mit Frau (Interior with Woman) is a 1917 ink by Lovis Corinth, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a woman sitting in a chair, wrapped in a loose coat. Behind her, a tree branch leans against the wall, and a window with curtains is visible. The lines are rough and scratchy, giving the whole scene a quick, sketchy feel. The artist used a drypoint tool, which leaves fine, textured lines. This method makes the drawing look almost like a hurried sketch. Next, check out technique: drypoint to see how it works.
Lovis Corinth was a German artist and writer whose mature work as a painter and printmaker realized a synthesis of impressionism and expressionism.
