Allons Bon! J'avais oublié de décharger mon fusil! is a 1858 ink by Honoré Daumier, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
A man in a room fires a rifle by accident. White smoke puffs up. Three others stare in shock. Daumier made this as a lithograph, a print made from greasy ink on stone. The press pressed paper onto the stone and pulled the image away. It shows everyday life with a laugh. Check out how Daumier’s bold lines push the figures forward—just like his prints at the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
Honoré-Victorin Daumier was a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker, whose many works offer commentary on the social and political life in France, from the Revolution of 1830 to the fall of the Second French Empire in 1870.
