Femme nue, s'essuyant les pieds (planche en hauteur) (Nude Woman Drying Her Feet) (vertical plate) is a 1895 crayon by Jean-Louis Forain, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a woman sitting on a chair, drying her feet with a towel. Behind her is a small table with a lamp and a few books stacked on it. The drawing is loose and quick, with soft shading and light touches of yellow and green. The artist used a sketchy style, almost like a quick note—just enough to show the scene. This was a common way to work in the late 1800s. Next, check out lithography to see how artists made prints like this.
