Bonner's Hall, Victoria Park, formerly the residence of Bishop Bonner is a 21 by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a large, old house with tall windows and steep roofs. Trees and bushes grow around it, and a fence runs along the front. The drawing is loose and quick, with light pencil lines that leave some areas blank. The artist wrote the name *Bonner’s Hall* and noted it was once a bishop’s home. The style looks simple but full of detail in the shadows and textures. Next, check out Shepherd, Thomas Hosmer—he made this drawing.
The drawing depicts Bonner's Hall, a former residence of the bishops of London such as Bishop Edmund Bonner, before its demolition in 1845 to make way for Victoria Park. Created by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the work is part of a topographical collection compiled by John Edmund Gardner. After passing through several owners, including Edward Coates MP, portions of the collection were eventually acquired by the Hon. Arthur Villiers and donated to the Bethnal Green Museum.
