Holy Trinity is a 1647 by Theodoor van Thulden, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This painting shows two big figures floating in the sky. One looks strong, holding a globe, while the other stands with a long staff and a red cloth. Around them, small winged babies reach upward, almost like they’re helping. The colors are mostly soft yellows and blues, with some red and gray clouds behind them. The artist used light and shadow to make the figures stand out against the sky. The way the light hits their faces and clothes gives them a kind of glow. Look up chiaroscuro to see how this lighting trick works in other paintings.
Theodoor van Thulden (9 August 1606 – 12 July 1669) was a Flemish painter, draughtsman and engraver born in 's-Hertogenbosch in the duchy of Brabant.
