About this work

This drawing shows a muscular half-man, half-goat creature mid-struggle with a snake. The creature’s arms are wrapped around the snake’s body, and its face is twisted in effort. The background looks like rough, rocky ground, and the whole scene is done in black and white with heavy shading. The artist used deep shadows to make the muscles and fur look three-dimensional. The snake’s coils are detailed, almost like they’re twisting in real life. If you like this, look up chiaroscuro next.
