Guy Little Theatrical Photograph is a 1900 photographic by Unknown, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This photograph shows a woman, Jane Hading, in a theatrical costume. She's dressed up, possibly for a role. The photo is old, from around 1900, and it's interesting because actors and actresses would often take these photos to share with fans. These photos were called 'cartes de visite' and were really popular back then. They were like visiting cards, but with a picture on them. The photographer would print their name on the card too. You can learn more about this kind of photography at the museum: Victoria and Albert Museum.
This photograph by an unknown artist from 1900 depicts Jane Hading and belongs to a collection of 19th-century theatrical photographs assembled by Guy Little. The image is an albumen print on card, typical of the "cartes de visite" and "cabinet cards" popular during the Victorian era for actor portraits. These small portrait cards, often collected in albums, were produced from glass negatives and featured the photographer’s name on the backing. The collection was donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum in the early 20th century.
