On board the P. & O. Ship Sultan Cape Trafalgar - is a 1854 watercolor by Unknown, a British Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a ship sailing in rough, choppy water under a cloudy sky. In the distance, there’s a rocky coastline with a small hill or tower on the left. The waves look wild, and the colors are mostly blues, grays, and soft yellows in the clouds. The ship’s name, *S.S. Sultan*, is written on the hull, and the title says it’s near Cape Trafalgar. The artist used quick, loose brushstrokes to capture the light and movement. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
A watercolour drawing from 1854 depicts the P. & O. ship Sultan off Cape Trafalgar, though its attribution remains uncertain, with a former suggestion pointing to E. A. Goodall.
