Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman is a 1880 paint by Unknown, a Impressionism work, depicting Kalighat, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting depicts a scene with four figures, each with distinct attire and accessories. The central figure wears a red hat and yellow clothing, while the figure to the left is dressed in purple and red. The figure on the right is attired in red, and the figure at the bottom is depicted in blue. The background of the painting features a cream color with teal accents. The painting's style is characterized by bold lines and vibrant colors, with a focus on capturing the essence of the scene. The use of contrasting colors adds depth and visual interest to the composition. The painting is held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, where it can be viewed alongside other works of art from the Impressionism and Realism movements.
The painting is an opaque watercolour on paper from 1880, depicting the figures of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, with the latter positioned at their feet. It was part of an album of 196 items, including prints, paintings, and drawings, collected by J. Lockwood Kipling between 1865 and 1893. The album primarily consists of lithographs sold in bazaars and fairs of Upper India and Bengal, later donated to the museum by his son, Rudyard Kipling, in 1917.
