This is a long, narrow wooden panel covered in tiny, precise holes arranged in neat rows. The holes form patterns like text, but they’re empty—no ink, just dark gaps against the light wood. Three small circular holes run down the center, like markers or guides. The panel looks like it’s meant to help write or print text by hand, almost like a stencil. It’s from a very old Buddhist book, made over 900 years ago. Look up The Cleveland Museum of Art to see more objects like this.
