Société des Artistes Français

About

Founded in 1881 in Paris, the Société des Artistes Français is a professional association established to organize the annual Salon after the state withdrew direct control. It united academic and realist painters, sculptors, and architects to promote their work through a large-scale public exhibition, serving as a central institution for the French art establishment in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
