About this work

Beatrix Potter painted *A Lane with Trees* as a watercolour around 1905–1913. It shows a quiet lane, likely in the Lake District near Near Sawrey. The area meant a lot to her. Potter first visited the Lake District at 16. Later she bought Hill Top farm nearby in 1905. She sketched the local landscape in every season after that. Look up the work at Victoria and Albert Museum.
