About this work

This black-and-white sketch shows a quiet forest scene with two cows grazing near a small stream. One cow stands while the other lies down, surrounded by sheep. A person in the background tends to the animals, and the trees frame the scene like a natural border. The title *Holland Cows* hints at the animals’ origin, though the setting looks more like a French wood. The artist used simple lines to show light and shadow, making the scene feel calm and real. Next, check out Realism—this style focused on everyday life, just like this sketch.
