Oh! Monsieur, quel talent possède ... is a 1852 ink by Honoré Daumier, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
Three men in a room argue. One points at his friend. Another looks shocked. Their clothes are dark suits. You can almost hear the raised voices. Daumier loved to show real people in funny situations. This tiny print was done in ink on stone. The stone held the ink like a stamp. Then the image was pressed onto paper—that’s called lithography. Look next at Daumier, Honoré.
Honoré-Victorin Daumier was a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker, whose many works offer commentary on the social and political life in France, from the Revolution of 1830 to the fall of the Second French Empire in 1870.
