Soyez donc pas dégouté comme ca ... is a 1864 ink by Honoré Daumier, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This lithograph shows three men making wine. Two jump barefoot in a barrel of purple grapes. Their arms flail, their faces twist—one sticks out his tongue. The third man in a hat watches with a flat, calm stare. Daumier used lithography to catch quick motion and sharp humor. The rough lines and big shapes make the scene feel alive and silly at once. The light catches the grape juice flying off their feet. Try sketching this at the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
Honoré-Victorin Daumier was a French painter, sculptor, and printmaker, whose many works offer commentary on the social and political life in France, from the Revolution of 1830 to the fall of the Second French Empire in 1870.
