Landscapes in Various Styles after Old Masters

Mei Qing, a prominent figure during China's Qing Dynasty, created Landscapes in Various Styles after Old Masters in 1696. As a painter, calligrapher, and poet, Mei Qing was known for his evocative landscape compositions. This particular work exemplifies his engagement with established artistic traditions while incorporating his distinctive vision, often inspired by his extensive travels. The painting is now part of the collection at The Cleveland Museum of Art.

Mei Qing employed a variety of brushstrokes and nuanced ink washes to create a sense of depth and texture throughout the composition.
