Snobism is a 1895 by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a crowded scene with people dressed in old-fashioned clothes. One woman in a long dress leans toward another woman with a fancy hat. Two men in uniforms stand nearby, looking stiff. The drawing is loose and quick, with lots of movement in the lines. Notice how the artist didn’t bother with perfect details—just quick strokes to show the mood. This sketch was made using a photomechanical process, which was new at the time. Next, look up Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri de to see more of his sharp, lively sketches.
