Guy Little Theatrical Photograph is a 1888 photographic by Unknown, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This is a black-and-white photo from 1888. A woman in a dark dress stands in front of a plain backdrop. Her hair is swept up neatly. The photo is small and mounted on thin cardboard. The woman is Ellaline Terriss, a popular stage actress. These photos were like early business cards for performers. Studios made thousands to sell or give to fans. This 1888 photograph by an unknown photographer depicts Ellaline Terriss and belongs to a collection of Victorian theatrical portraits assembled by Guy Little. The image is an albumen print from a glass negative, mounted on card as a carte de visite, a popular format for actor portraits in the 1860s before being replaced by larger cabinet cards. The collection, originally mounted in albums by Little, was donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum in the early 20th century.
