It is an illustration from the Rasikapriya of Kesav Das, with the surrounding text removed and the miniature mounted on black paper.

The painting is an opaque watercolour on paper from 1610, depicting Krishna as the Nayaka seated in a jewelled crown and ornaments, engaged in conversation with the Dutika, who kneels before him in an interior setting. It is an illustration from the Rasikapriya of Kesav Das, with the surrounding text removed and the miniature mounted on black paper. The number '51' in Devanagari script, once visible on the surface, has been erased. The composition closely resembles another work from the same series in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
