This sketch shows a winding river cutting through a flat, distant landscape. The far shore has a line of trees and a few small buildings. Closer up, bushes and a lone tree sit by the water’s edge. The colors are mostly muted browns and blues, with some faint green. The artist used quick, loose strokes—almost like a quick note of what they saw. The distant buildings look tiny, making the scene feel vast. If you like this style, look up Baroque next.
