The panel entered the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where it remains on view. Its attribution to Andrea di Giusto rests on stylistic parallels with works by contemporaries such as Lorenzo Monaco and Bicci di Lorenzo.

Created during a transitional phase in Italian art, the work reflects the shift from medieval iconography toward the nascent Renaissance. The emphasis on a single devotional figure aligns with the growing popularity of personal prayer objects in the 1300s.
