The Falconer is a 1864 by Eugène Fromentin, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
A rider on horseback reaches up to catch a falcon in midair. The horse is mid-gallop, kicking up dust from a dry, grassy hillside. The rider wears a loose cloak that billows behind them, and the falcon’s wings are spread wide. In the background, rocky hills fade into a pale sky. Notice how the light hits the rider’s cloak and the falcon’s feathers—it’s almost like the artist used quick, bright strokes to catch the moment. Want to see more like this?
