About this work

This painting depicts a carpenter and his wife standing on a dark surface against a light blue background. The carpenter, positioned on the left, wears a white cloth draped over his shoulder and around his waist, with a black turban on his head. He holds a hammer in his right hand and a tool in his left. The woman, on the right, is dressed in a brown sari with a blue border, adorned with gold jewelry. She holds a box in her hands. The couple's attire and the tools suggest a scene from everyday life. The artist's use of color and composition creates a sense of intimacy and warmth.
