Krishna is a 1775 paint by Unknown, a Rococo painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows two figures standing under a big tree with bright green leaves and yellow flowers. The man has blue skin, a yellow cloth draped over one shoulder, and a flute slung over his back. The woman wears a long pink skirt with a sheer top, her arms raised as if dancing or playing. The tree’s flowers stand out against the soft blue sky, and the ground looks like a grassy riverbank. The red border frames the scene neatly. Next, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more paintings like this.
The painting, created in 1775 using opaque watercolour and gold on paper, depicts Krishna stealing curd from a milkmaid. The gopi wears a pink skirt, an orange choli, and a transparent shawl with a floral pattern and gold borders. The work was acquired as part of a group of objects (IS.10 to 18-1954) from Maggs Bros. in London.
