Outing on a Lake is a 1850 paint by Unknown, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a busy lake scene with people on boats. A large boat in the center carries a group of people dressed in colorful robes, some standing, some sitting. Nearby, a smaller boat with one person rows. On the shore, a pavilion with curved roofs sits next to a building with people inside. Trees, mountains, and rocks fill the background, all painted in soft blues, greens, and whites. The artist used bright colors and loose brushstrokes to show movement in the water and sky. The people look relaxed, enjoying their time outside. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
The artwork is a rectangular watercolour from 1850 depicting a water scene, featuring a prominently placed figure in an elaborately decorated boat. It was acquired from L. M. Dickson and entered the collection in 1900, as recorded in the Asia Department registers during a 2022 provenance research project.
