Untitled is a 1794 paint by Unknown, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a group of people in bright, flat colors. On the right, a blue-skinned man and a woman sit on a green, winged creature with a red mouth. The man holds a flute, and the woman wears a red dress with gold patterns. On the left, three people stand with hands raised, dressed in flowing robes and crowns. The bright yellow border and bold outlines give it a lively, almost storybook feel. The winged creature looks like a mix of animal and human, which is unusual. If you like this style, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum for more paintings like it.
An opaque watercolour painting on paper from 1794 depicts Vishnu and Lakshmi riding Garuda while carrying a tree, illustrating an episode from the Bhagavata Purana known as the "rape of the wishing tree." The work is part of a series commissioned by Sri Pritham Singh in Raghunathpura (Kulu) and dated to 26 September 1794. Other pages from the same manuscript, including one with a colophon, are held in the National Museum, New Delhi. The painting was acquired by IS. 90 to 128-1954 for £150 from Maggs Bros.
