Yi luo lan is a 1780 paint by Unknown, a Rococo painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows two bright red flowers with long green stems and large leaves. Behind them, a small rocky hill with a few tiny buildings sits in a grassy area. The colors are soft—light greens, muted browns, and the red flowers stand out. The artist focused on the flowers’ details, like the way the petals curve open. The tiny buildings on the hill add a quiet, almost hidden element to the scene. Next, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
A rectangular watercolour painting from around 1780, rendered in subdued tones, depicts two plants with broad green leaves and small red, tulip-like flowers, possibly identified as yi luo lan. The work was acquired from E. Parsons and entered the collection in 1889, as recorded in the Asia Department registers during a 2022 provenance research project.
