Giorgione

Giorgione was a quiet voice in Venice around 1505, a city full of color and trade. He kept to himself, painting small works for private collectors rather than grand public projects. One habit stuck: he worked slowly, letting layers of oil paint dry between brushstrokes to create soft, glowing shadows, a trick called sfumato that made his figures look alive in dim light.

Look for the quiet mood in his paintings. Unlike busy altar scenes, his figures often stand half-hidden in dreamy landscapes, their faces glowing from within. He loved warm earth tones, burnt orange, deep green, and soft gold, so his scenes feel warm even on a cold day.

Some experts still debate which paintings are truly his, since he died young, leaving few signed works behind.
