The Little Monument is a 1740 ink by Canaletto, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This drawing shows a small stone structure by a river. It looks like a monument or a lantern. Behind it, a city skyline with domes and spires appears faint. Trees with bare branches hang over the water, which has wavy lines. The artist used shading to make the scene look three-dimensional. The lines are precise but also slightly rough in spots.
