Portrait of Count Giacomo Durazzo is a 1784 ink by Giovanni David, a Romanticism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a man with a serious expression, dressed in a high-collared coat. His face is framed by a decorative oval border with swirling designs, and above it sits a wreath of leaves. Below the oval, a desk holds a quill, inkwell, and open book, suggesting he was a scholar or official. The name under the portrait reads "J. Comte de Durazzo," and it calls him a "Noble Genois" and "Ambassadeur Imperial a Venise." This hints he was a high-ranking diplomat. Look up etching, drypoint, aquatint to see how this print was made.
Giovanni David (1743–1790) was an Italian artist, born in Cabella Ligure.
