Por que? (Why?) is a 1863 ink by Francisco Goya, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This etching depicts a dramatic scene with three men in the foreground. One man, wearing a white shirt and pants, is being held down by two others. The man on the left, dressed in a white shirt and pants, grasps the victim's arm, while the man on the right, also in white, holds a sword to the victim's back. The victim's face is contorted in a mixture of fear and pain. In the background, a few trees and bushes are visible, set against a light-colored sky. The overall mood of the image is one of tension and violence. For more information on this style of art, look up the movement Realism.
