You see a wild, green valley: rocks, trees, and a little waterfall tumbling into a stream. Gainsborough painted mostly portraits, but he loved landscapes best. Here, he used quick, loose brushstrokes—almost like a sketch—to make the scene feel alive, not stiff. The colors are close, but the shapes still pop. If you like how light dances here, look up *sfumato*.
