Lahula Raga is a 1700 paint by Unknown, a Baroque work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows two figures standing under a tree with long, drooping branches. The person on the left wears bright yellow and red clothes with a tall crown and holds a curved staff. The person on the right has long green hair, an orange dress with green patterns, and holds a fan. The background is a dark blue sky with a distant horizon. Notice the bright colors and detailed patterns on their clothes, which stand out against the simple sky. The figures look like they’re in a moment of quiet interaction, with the tree framing them like a doorway. If you like this style, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like it.
A ragamala painting rendered in opaque watercolor on paper depicts the lahula raga musical mode. The scene shows Krishna playing a flute within a grove, accompanied by a chauri-bearer. The work was acquired by Mr. Michael Rothenstein and later purchased by IS.46 to 73-1953 for £300.
