Untitled is a 20 paint by Unknown, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows green hills rolling under a gray sky. A few pale clouds sit low, like a lid. The trees bunch along the slopes in dark patches. It’s a quiet scene, but it’s real. Someone stood here in 1875 and painted what they saw. The Khasi Hills stretch out below Cherrapunji. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum if you want to see more.
The painting depicts a landscape view of the Khasi Hills as seen from below Cherrapunji, located 58 kilometers from Shillong in present-day Meghalaya, India. It portrays a scene documented during the late 19th century, when the region was recognized for its extreme rainfall. The work is associated with Colonel R.G. Woodthorpe, who contributed to ethnographic studies in the Naga Hills and led an expedition to Nuristan in 1885.
