Christ on the Living Cross is a 1420 oil by Follower of the Master of Saint Veronica, a Northern Renaissance work, held at Art Institute of Chicago.
This painting shows Christ on a cross, with a crowd in the background. The artist used a lot of detail to show the emotions of the people. The scene is dramatic and the characters are well-done, which is interesting because it was made a long time ago. You can learn more about this style by looking into the technique of glazing.
