About this work

This painting shows two women sitting under a pink canopy. One wears a brown dress and sits on a cushion near a window with white latticework. The other wears purple and pink, holding a bird. Outside, trees and a small building appear in the background. Bright colors and floral patterns fill the edges. The women seem relaxed, as if enjoying a quiet moment together. The window’s latticework lets in light but keeps the outside partly hidden. Next, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more paintings like this.
