A painting in opaque watercolor and gold on paper depicts a bearded European figure standing in an Indian landscape, dressed in a black velvet hat, red velvet doublet with an open-fronted white ruff, baggy orange trousers, and soft leather boots, while holding a green cloak over one shoulder and resting a hand on a straight-bladed sword. The attire, including pinked boots, an open-fronted ruff, and a rapier hilt, suggests the artist used a European portrait from the 1580s or earlier as a model.
