About

The largest school of ukiyo-e, founded by Utagawa Toyoharu and dominating Japanese printmaking through the nineteenth century. Its lineage produced Hiroshige's landscapes, Kunisada's actors and Kuniyoshi's warriors — by the late Edo period most working print designers bore the Utagawa name.
