About this work

This lithograph depicts a chaotic scene of people struggling against strong winds. In the foreground, a man in a dark coat and hat is shown being blown backward, his arms outstretched as he tries to regain his balance. To his left, a woman in a long dress and hat is also being buffeted by the wind, her skirt and coat billowing out behind her. In the background, several other figures can be seen, some of whom are holding onto their hats or trying to shield themselves from the wind. The scene is set against a backdrop of buildings, which appear to be swaying in the wind. The artist's use of bold lines and expressive brushstrokes adds to the sense of energy and movement in the scene. The lithograph is a great example of the artist's work in the Realism movement.
