About this work

This sketch shows two women playing a game with a shuttlecock. One woman, labeled "Guerre" (War), holds a bat and looks fierce. The other, labeled "Paix" (Peace), holds a bat too but looks calm. Above them floats a head labeled "Europe," watching the game. The title *La Partie de volant* means "the shuttlecock game." The rough lines and simple shapes make it feel fast and raw.
